Statement of Intent

 Statement of Intent

In order to create a recognisable and cohesive brand identity across two front covers and contents pages, I will construct media texts that will appeal to a 16-25 year old target audience, of those who have an interest in style (fashion, culture, lifestyle) and will be in the middle to higher social classes. To create this brand identity, I will include a stylish, classy masthead that is included on both my front covers and contents pages, Verelle, in the same font which will be easy for the audience to identify. To further target the audience, I will keep a colour palette of vibrant, summer colours {insert which colours when finalised) that links to the release of the magazine covers in summer 2025, but also are sophisticated colours to match the target audience. These can be seen in magazines like Vogue and Elle's summer issues, as they keep the same classy masthead, but will often change the colour to a more vibrant colour liking to the seasonal change. In regards to colour, I will use props of butterflies in one of my model's hair, to reflect the summer feel. Across the two covers, I will include two different models from different social groups. Inclusivity is an important factor, as being positively represented in the media will positively impact one's identity, and will make them feel represented in today's society. With the rise of social media, it is more common to see inclusivity especially due to us being able to construct our own identities through the influence of social media. This will be reflected within my products.

For my website, I will make sure they clearly reflect and link to my two front covers, in regards to colour scheme, fonts and images I will choose, linking to media language aspects. In regards to images, they will all be original images that are taken by me and link to the brand identity I intend to create through my products. From my menu bar, I will include a range of different topics, including fashion, beauty, culture and travel. I will also include two working links from the homepage to other page. These will redirect users to fashion and travel pages, but I will also include = buttons for culture and beauty too, that will help to target the 16-25 year old audience- under 18s may be more interested in fashion and beauty, whilst 18+ may be more interested in culture and travel. I will include original titles and logos, and maintain the same typography throughout the website.

It is key that media texts have a clear, identifiable brand image across all of its products. This is used to target the same audience, and ensure both the front covers and website have corelation. I will keep the same masthead across both media texts, and the same font types. I will also keep the same bold, vibrant colour schemes that will link to the summer theme. I will include social media links on the website that encourages the active audience element, and allows them to be fully up to date with the magazine. There will also be exclusive content included that is only available either within the magazine or on the website, to encourage readers to purchase physical copies or go to our website.

As with last year this simply needs to set out what type of products you plan to make. This includes consideration of all four areas of the ‘Theoretical Framework’ (Audience, Representation, Industry, Media Language). Remember that this time around you need to discuss both your print products and your websites. It needs to be approximately 500 words.

  Media Representation

To make the series appealing to its target audiences, it must be portrayed in a positive light to ensure they are interested in watching the show. I intend on targeting the show mainly at women, so the two main characters will be women. In the posters, I will ensure they both look serious and in control. This will add to the element of power in the characters as we will be following their journey in solving the disappearances. The characters will come from two different social groups, making it more inclusive and will extend the target audience

Media Audience and Media Language

The show will be targeted at an audience aged 16-25, who are fans of TV thrillers. The poster will help to target this age bracket by only including characters within the target age group- for example, two young girls returns back to her hometown after hearing of 5 disappearances. This will appeal to the audience by making them feel represented accurately by the show. I will construct the bus posters to be engaging from the first view, with little information as younger audience may feel overwhelmed by it, but enough for them to be interested in watching it. I will ensure the characters are placed in the center, with a simple location. I will design 2 types of posters, one with the coastal settings and the other with close-ups of the characters.
