Overview of the Magazine Industry
Magazine industry data
The Magazine industry has been around since
the 17th century, gaining popularity in 1885. Globally, the top
selling magazines are Filmfare Magazine, India Today, the Observer Magazine,
the New York Times and Forbes Magazine. In the UK, the top selling magazines
are National Geographic, the National Trust Magazine and Radio Times. The
revenue within the magazine market worldwide is projected to reach $32.7 billion
in 2025, showing its global popularity. Unlike newspapers, the magazine
industry is expected to keep growing and is not experiencing a decline in
circulation. It is forecast to increase by $14.5 billion between 2024 and 2029.
The market is experiencing rapid growth, which is due to an increase in
reliance on digital devices. However, magazines have been hit by sharp declines
in print advertising revenue, due to digital advertising spend
being monopolized by tech platforms like Google and Facebook.
